Miscounting pavers means either a half-finished patio or a pile of leftover bricks you paid for. The paver calculator takes your project dimensions and paver size, then instantly tells you how many pavers you need and the total cost including installation.

Whether you're laying a walkway or a full driveway, Free Construction Calculators collection gives you accurate paver counts and cost estimates before you place a single order.

The paver calculator is a landscaping and construction tool that estimates the number of pavers required to cover a rectangular area, along with the total material and installation cost. Enter your project dimensions and paver size — and the calculator returns your paver count and full cost breakdown instantly.

What Is a Paver Calculator?

A paver calculator is a free online tool that estimates the exact number of pavers needed for projects like patios, walkways, and driveways based on your project area and individual paver size. It calculates how many units fit per square meter, multiplies that by your total area, and adds up material and installation costs — helping you avoid overbuying and budget accurately before starting.

The Paver Calculation Formula

The calculator uses this formula to determine pavers per square meter:

10,000 cm² ÷ Brick Size (cm²) = Pavers per m²

Where brick size = Paver Width × Paver Length.

For the default values (10 cm × 20 cm): Brick size = 10 × 20 = 200 cm² Pavers per m² = 10,000 ÷ 200 = 50 pavers per m²

This matches the default output shown in the calculator exactly.

Total pavers needed: Pavers per m² × Project Area = Number of Pavers

How the Paver Calculator Works

Project Area Inputs

  • Area shape — default: Single rectangle (option: Several identical rectangles)

  • Width — width of the project area (unit: meters)

  • Length — length of the project area (unit: meters)

  • Project area — auto-calculated in m²

Paver Brick Size Inputs

  • Width — default: 10 cm

  • Length — default: 20 cm

  • Brick size — auto-calculated: 200 cm²

Pavers Needed Output

  • Pavers — default: 50 per m² (based on default brick size)

  • Number of pavers — auto-calculated from project area × pavers per m²

The Costs Section

  • Paver price — enter your unit price per paver (INR)

  • Cost of installation — enter installation cost per m² (INR/m²)

  • Pavers cost — auto-calculated total material cost (INR)

  • Total installation cost — auto-calculated (INR)

  • Total expenses — combined material + installation cost (INR)

How to Calculate Pavers — Step by Step

Example 1: Small Patio

Project: 4 m wide, 3 m long. Default paver size (10 × 20 cm).

Step 1: Project area = 4 × 3 = 12 m². Step 2: Pavers per m² = 10,000 ÷ 200 = 50. Step 3: Total pavers = 12 × 50 = 600 pavers.

Enter: Width = 4 m, Length = 3 m, Paver width = 10 cm, Paver length = 20 cm. Result: 600 pavers needed.

Example 2: Larger Walkway with Cost

Project: 10 m × 2 m. Default paver size. Paver price = INR 25 each, Installation = INR 150/m².

Step 1: Area = 10 × 2 = 20 m². Step 2: Pavers = 20 × 50 = 1,000 pavers. Step 3: Pavers cost = 1,000 × 25 = INR 25,000. Step 4: Installation cost = 20 × 150 = INR 3,000. Step 5: Total expenses = INR 28,000.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many 10x20 cm pavers fit in a square metre?

At the default paver size of 10 cm × 20 cm, the brick size is 200 cm². Dividing 10,000 cm² (1 m²) by 200 gives exactly 50 pavers per square meter. This is the default output shown in the calculator's Pavers needed section.

How much is 1000 sq ft of pavers?

1,000 sq ft is approximately 92.9 m². At 50 pavers per m² (default 10×20 cm size), you need roughly 4,645 pavers. Enter your paver price in the cost section to get the total material and installation expense for your specific project.

How much is 200 sq ft of pavers?

200 sq ft is approximately 18.6 m². At 50 pavers per m², that's around 930 pavers. Enter your dimensions and paver price into the calculator to get an accurate cost estimate based on your local pricing.

Can I calculate installation cost with this calculator?

Yes. The Costs section includes a "Cost of installation" field where you enter your rate per m². The calculator multiplies this by your project area and adds it to the paver material cost to give you the total expenses in INR.
