The Army Fitness Test (AFT) replaced the ACFT as the new standard for measuring soldier readiness — and scoring varies by age group, sex, and combat or general standard. The AFT score calculator takes your details and performance across all five events, then returns your total score instantly.

The AFT calculator is a military fitness scoring tool that computes your Army Fitness Test score based on your age group, AFT standard, sex, and performance results across five events. It applies age-normed, sex-specific scoring to return an instant point total — helping soldiers assess readiness against General or Combat standards.

What Is the Army Fitness Test (AFT)?

The Army Fitness Test (AFT) is the U.S. Army's fitness assessment standard, replacing the ACFT as of 2025–2026. It evaluates soldier physical readiness across five events using age-normed and sex-specific scoring standards. The AFT uses two scoring tracks — General (non-combat) and Combat — with different minimum thresholds for each.

AFT Standards

  • General (non-combat) — minimum 60 points per event required

  • Combat — higher standard with a minimum total of 350+ points, applied to combat MOS roles

AFT Events

  • MDL — 3-Rep Maximum Deadlift (measured in pounds)

  • HRP — Hand-Release Push-Ups in 2 minutes (measured in reps)

  • SDC — Sprint-Drag-Carry (measured in minutes and seconds)

  • PLK — Plank hold time (measured in minutes and seconds)

  • 2MR — Two-Mile Run (measured in minutes and seconds)

How the AFT Score Calculator Works

Your Details Inputs

  • Age group — default: 22–26 (select your age bracket for age-normed scoring)

  • AFT standard — default: General (non-combat) (also: Combat standard)

  • Sex — default: Male (also: Female)

Your Performance Inputs

Enter your raw results for each event:

  • 3-Rep Max Deadlift (MDL) — your maximum weight lifted for 3 reps (unit: lb)

  • Hand Release Push-Ups (HRP) in 2 minutes — total reps completed (unit: reps)

  • Sprint-Drag-Carry (SDC) time — total time to complete the event (min/sec)

  • Plank (PLK) time — total hold duration (min/sec)

  • Two-Mile Run (2MR) time — total run time (min/sec)

Optional: Check the medical condition box if you are unable to perform the Two-Mile Run event — an alternate event will apply.

Output

The calculator returns your total AFT score and pass/fail status based on your age group, sex, and selected standard.

How to Use the AFT Calculator — Step by Step

Example: Male, Age 22–26, General Standard

Step 1: Set Age group = 22–26, AFT standard = General (non-combat), Sex = Male. Step 2: Enter your MDL weight in pounds — for example, 200 lb. Step 3: Enter your HRP reps completed in 2 minutes — for example, 40 reps. Step 4: Enter your SDC time — for example, 1 min 45 sec. Step 5: Enter your PLK time — for example, 2 min 30 sec. Step 6: Enter your 2MR time — for example, 16 min 00 sec.

The calculator applies age- and sex-normed scoring tables to each event and returns your total score and pass/fail result instantly.

Frequently Asked Questions

What events are in the Army Fitness Test?

The AFT consists of five events — the 3-Rep Max Deadlift (MDL), Hand-Release Push-Ups (HRP), Sprint-Drag-Carry (SDC), Plank (PLK), and Two-Mile Run (2MR). Each event is scored separately using age-normed, sex-specific tables.

What is the difference between General and Combat AFT standards?

The General (non-combat) standard requires a minimum of 60 points per event, while the Combat standard applies to combat MOS roles and requires a higher total score of 350 or more points. Select your standard in the calculator before entering your results.

Does age group affect my AFT score?

Yes — AFT scoring is age-normed, meaning the same performance earns different point values depending on your age bracket. The default age group in the calculator is 22–26; select your actual age group for an accurate score.

What happens if I can't perform the Two-Mile Run?

Check the medical condition box in the calculator if you have a condition that prevents you from completing the Two-Mile Run event. An alternate event will be applied to your score in place of the 2MR.
